Powder-fill gives a more defined, solid appearance, and is usually a longer-lasting option, whereas hair stroke, as the name suggests, involves cosmetic tattooing on tiny lines/strokes in a design that gives the appearance of hair. Hair-strokes alone, with no background, do require more re-touching than other methods. A good, longer lasting option can be a combination of these, where a lighter powder-fill will be done at the first appointment, then hair-strokes over the top, to give texture and a realistic, hair like appearance. We can discuss these options and what would give you the best result and your consultation.

Typically about 2 hours, depending on the treatment you are having. Often, for eyebrows, the longest part of the appointment can be the consultation and actually drawing on the brow shape – I will always spend time getting them as symmetrical and as close to perfect as possible, with your approval before any cosmetic tattooing begins.

There is no definitive answer to this one – it is dependent on many factors, such as:

The pigment used – darker pigments i.e. black and very dark brown last a lot longer than lighter shades. A blonde to light brown microblade will usually need refreshing around 6-8 months (hence we normally will use a combination method for those wanting lighter coloured brows) The method used – microblade does not normally last quite as long as powderfill/machine method – the pigment is implanted in thin strokes with microblade, which are not able to be placed as deeply in the skin as machine cosmetic tattoo. The density of pigment – i.e. a treatment that has been reinforced with a second adjustment appointment will usually be longer lasting Your health and overall individual physiology – some people retain pigment extremely well, others do not (however the adjustment appointment gives us an indicator of this and how much darker/how more more pigment needs to be implanted) A touch-up treatment is recommended every 6-18 months for microblade (finer more natural strokes), and 12-48 months for power fill cosmetic tattoo/machine tattoo.

Be mindful of facial procedures that may not only fade but completely change the color of your permanent makeup. Ensure the brow is protected at all times during such procedures. Environmental factors such as exposure to UV light. Tanning and not using sun protection will fade cosmetic tattoos faster, and those with oilier skin, the tattoo will not last as long as in someone with a dryer skin. After care – regularly tinting over the area, using glycolic acid based products or peels on the area, or regularly exfoliating over the brows can cause them to fade more quickly.

It varies between person to person, most people experience very little discomfort during the treatment and actually fall asleep. For those near their period or who are resistant to lidocaine you may feel some discomfort for the first few minutes, however, I have found that once the skin has been broken, the secondary numbing agent is highly effective.

I do offer emergency removal which will almost completely remove the pigment before it has had the opportunity to heal within the first 48 hours. However, I stongly advise against this as typically most people only have "brow shock" meaning they have gotten so use to seeing them selves with their current brows that anything else can be a dramatic shock to them even if the new brow looks perfectly normal to those around them.

Yes, very. The cosmetic tattoo machine is one of the most hygienic available, a small, pen-like device that uses completely disposable parts. All needles, tubes, chambers, caps, casings – anything that comes into contact with clients, are brand new and sealed prior to your treatment. Our salon is clean, hygienic and compliant with all Department of Health Regulations for Skin Penetration. Allergic reactions to the pigments are incredibly rare. The pigments brands used are trusted, long-established USA made brands that have been on the market for decades. The pigments contain iron oxide that is already present in the human body, so highly unlikely to cause a reaction. In regards to patch tests, this can be arranged, and is recommended if you are concerned/are a highly allergic individual. However, – as an allergic reaction can sometimes show after 2 weeks, but sometimes 5-10 years later (this can be due to hormones/medications or simply unknown) a patch test can be rather ineffective. Most clients do not request a patch test.

The skin on the face is not only thinner but has a much faster cell turn over rate than that on the rest of the body. Your face is exposed to all of the elements, all day everyday. We wash our faces constantly resulting in exfoliatio, apply creams and serums and makeup daily. For many reasons facial tattooing is vastly different than body art. The initial appointment lays the ground work. But because we do not want a solid "old school" tattoo on your face, we are not tattoo a solid line, rather we are implanting tiny dots or tiny lines that will heal soft. This means that some areas may need more saturation after the initial work has healed. Additionally, this is art and there is no one size fits all approach. Some will hold onto a majority of the pigment and it will heal darker and some will have skin that is quite resistant and will fade a lot and will need much more saturation. Thus the second appointment is required to perfect the brow now that we have seen your healed result and address any shape and color concerns after the initial ground work has been laid!

The color is chosen based off of multiple factors including: skin tone, undertones, hair color on your head, hair color of your brows, skin type and your preferences.

I cannot perform a tattoo service on you if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Additionaly if you are hoping to become pregnant I do not recommend it as if you become pregnant immediatly after it could impact your healing process as well as result in the inability to complete the service by performing the touchup appointment which may result in brows that appear unfinished.

No. Consultation can take up to an hour and consist of a lot of information to go through as well as a drawing/mapping process to show you how your brows may look. Our consultations are paid appointments. However, as a courtesy, I will credit the cost of the consultation toward the full procedure cost if you decide to book.
